Name: Flare.
Just Flare. Although he doesn't know where he obtained the name, he keeps it because he feels that it fits his personality, and he refuses to adopt any other kind of name, last or other wise.
Age: 906
Gender: Male
Species: Nightmare
Weapon: Sword of the High Seraph:
This Sword has a few unique capiblities: It is capable of sensing Dreams, both bonded and unbonded. It can, also, sense the Presence of Dreams, relaying it's information to the weilder through an increase of heat when a Dream is near. Finally, it can only be weilded by Nightmares, as Dreams are incapable of using it due to specific enchantments layed on the Blade, and Humans in most cases being unable to stand the intense heat produced when a Dream is near.
At first sight, it looks to be an ordinary great sword, with an Onyx Blade and a red, sharp honed edge. However, concealed with in it's depths is a peice of magic that causes red veins to crack through the Onyx stone of the blade occaisonally. This particular incident appears to be intimately coordinated with Flare's Mood.
Abilities: Flare has three major abilities.
-First-
Is the ability to Fly. Given to him in his early years as a Nightmare, Some who have faced him often say that they have seen him with eight angelic wings coming from his back when he uses this ability.
-Second-
Flare has an ability that he calls the Ribbons of Nightmare. Basicly, these are dark ribbons of thought that act rather like secondary swords, allowing Flare to battle without his sword. However, these take extremely large amounts of concentration on Flare's part to maintain, and are there fore rarely used.
-Third-
Flare has the ability to step through the shadows and appear somewhere completly different. This ability is always for transportation, as Flare uses his ability of Flight in battles, prefering to gain the upper hand via the air.
Appearance: Flare is a rather unique Nightmare, in that he more than often chooses to appear as a Human. When in his human form, he wears a Black Cloak that shimmers red in direct light. He also has a gigantic scabbard on his back allowing him to carry The Sword of the High Seraph around with him. In this form he has short red spiky hair, and an eyepatch that covers his left eye and a good portion of his forehead. His eyes are red and his face is thin, alluding to a gauntness that seems odd even for a disguised non-human. Under his cloak (which he rarely disgaurds) he has a black jumpsuit that appears to held together by a number of silver chains. Maintaining the gauntness here as well, he also wears black gloves, these being the only attire besides the sword and cloak that he has ever been seen to take off. The inside of the cloak is ligned in black
Personality: Flare is a loner, prefering to do things his own way, he doesn't care who gets in his way and often resorts to attempting to kill anything that he considers a particular nuisance. He is also rather consending, beleiving that he is superior to almost any other creture Nightmare, Dream and Dreamer(human) alike. He is also withdrawn, often never explaining why or how he acheives something, prefering to stick to the idea that the ends justify the means. Finally, he is smart, tending only to pick fights that he beleives that he knows he can win.
History: Flare's history is a tangled distorted mess. Being one of the first Nightmares born, he took a major part in the original war. However he defacted slightly, prefering in stead to wage war in his own way. Creating a group he deemed The Hunters, a group of eight Nightmares with himself as the leader, he began to hunt Dreams individually, attempting to work his way through the upper ranks of the Dream army. However,he would eventually run into a counter cell of truely rogue unpartnered Dreams, lead by a Dream called The Keryios.
Expecting an easy battle, Flare took The Hunters and attempted to best The Keryios and it's fighters. Managing to engage The Keryios in single combat, he discovered that the Dream was ultimately a match for him. Forced to flee, and severly wounded, he would barricade himself in a Nightmare stronghold Knowing from the Nightmares that he had chosen, all would attempt to remove him in his weakened state. The Keryios would also be severly wounded, having lost all but a few of it's fighters and being forced to find a human to bond with.
Finally, after approxamately eight hundred years, (about a hundred years before this timeline) Flare would discover that the war had ground to a halt while he slept. Wondering what had become of his eleite force, he would journey to the original space of residence, attempting to find one of the Original Hunters or what would at this point be considered an Elder Nightmare. Flare would be uncessful in this attempt however and would decide that it would be a better idea to re construct the order by hand.
Finding two Nightmares that were extremely powerful but new to the world. He was on the verge of resurecting the old Order when he would be attacked by one of the Original Hunters. He would kill the older Nightmare eaisly, but one of the two younger Nightmares would be killed in the short battle. Discerning from this that only Elder Nightmares would be able to help resurect the order, he said goodbye to the second younger Nightmare and set off. Not long after he would learn of The Keryios Survival, leaving him with two goals. To Resurect The Hunters and to kill The Keryios.
