Twin Swords.
At first glance one will see a staff type weapon. However, this staff can be pulled apart, resulting in twin blades, each being sheathed in the other's handle. Devon may fight using the pole, but may also pull it apart and fight with one or both blades. When together, the swords are about 25 inches. Each blade is about 11 inches long.
Abilities
Shape Shift
Devon can morph into a melanistic jaguar. [a.k.a. black panther] This form gives him an amazingly strong bite, as well as increased speed. He can also swim very effectively while a jaguar. This form gives him many other advantages as well, but while in this form he has no thumbs and thus cannot carry or hold anything. He actually does not use this ability very often.
Speed
Devon can move very quickly from one place to another, but only in short bursts. For example, he can move about 10 feet in the blink of an eye, but once he stops moving he needs to pause before going quickly again.
Appearance
Devon's golden brown hair falls in a messy manor around his face, nearly touching his shoulders in places. His green eyes have a kindness to them, often holding an entertained sparkle. With his lips usually pulled up in a crooked smile, Devon's face will easily disarm any stranger. He has a tall stature; standing just below six feet. His muscles are lanky, but definitely there.
A long black coat is usually donned by Devon. Below his coat he wears jeans and varying shirts, usually ones that are buttoned with a collar. Black converse are his favorite shoes, so more often then not he is wearing them. When the situation calls for it, Devon will instead wear black dress pants with a white button up shirt. A black tie will often accompany this outfit, along with a pair of plain black shoes.
Personality
The first trait one will notice about Devin is his overly dramatic emotions. He loves to be very theatrical, and will never settle for "simple." He loves to smile, and to see others smile. Devon especially likes to make women smile. Of course, he cries easily, but not so much that it is annoying.
Although usually a cheerful person, Devon will occasionally lapse into silence. He might have a sudden mood swing into depression, when a painful memory is brought to the surface. He is also very protective of anyone close to him.
Devon enjoys testing himself, often asking any passing warrior to spar with him. One of his favorite hobbies is to track Nightmares until he finds the perfect opportunity to fight. However, he is very sexist in the manor that he will not fight a woman unless he absolutely has to. His other hobbies include reading, sightseeing and taking pictures.
History
Always a bit of a nomad, Devon never settled down for long. The longest time he stayed in one place was when he first bought his odd double swords. He stayed in a small town where he trained to fight well and efficiently, incorporating his abilities with his weapon.
During his travels, Devon took pictures of everything. Every person he met, every place he went to, every scenic or not so scenic view he passed. He keeps them in bags, ordering them by date. They are carried with him everywhere in his duffel bag, along with his clothing.
One day, Devon noticed a human fighting a Nightmare. The human, Chelsea, put up a fair fight, but the Nightmare had an obvious advantage. Devon stepped in, saving the human. They quickly became friends, and then paired up. They were always together.
Once, while they were walking between two towns, Devon told Chelsea to go ahead while he took a picture. He soon ran to catch up to her, but couldn't find her. Devon searched desperately for Chelsea, checking the nearby towns and such. Before long, he came across a Nightmare that recognized him. The Nightmare showed him a picture of Devon that Chelsea had been carrying, and Devon understood instantly that the Nightmare had killed her. Without a pause, Devon attacked. He won, but not without being injured. He had to stay for a week in a hospital, before he could finally leave. He found Chelsea's body in hospital morgue; someone else had found her. He soon buried her. With a broken heart, Devon set off to travel again.
