Name
David Leonardo Flint
Age
Sixteen
Gender
Male
Species
Human
Weapon
Casimir. Casimir appears to be a simple handgun colored black. However, it’s everything but. It’s far smaller than the ordinary gun and can easily be concealed in a pocket or small bag. The tiny black weapon does not contain bullets, but actually tiny needles embedded with the chemical Acwelen (designed by David himself, thank you). Once the needle is released it pierces the skin of the victim and plagues it’s body with the special substance. However, Acwelen is intended for Nightmares and Dreams only, meaning that Humans are unaffected by it. Once Acwelen is within a Dream or Nightmare it infects their body and thus the body tries to get rid of it and by doing it overexerts itself. The drug is unreliable as some immune systems with Dreams and Nightmares are better than others. Then, when coupled with David’s poor aim, he usually never gets his intended target. So, the young teen must be within a close vicinity of the alleged victim. Acwelen merely knocks out the Dream or Nightmare (depending on how strong their immune system is, of course) and does little harm elsewhere.
Abilities
None.
Appearance
David is one of those few teenagers who doesn’t care for his appearance much. It’s evident when you get a look at this lanky boy for you are met with messy hair, wrinkled clothing, and an utmost boring expression. It’s useless to make David think of his appearance, it’s just something that never interested him.
His hair is a lovely shade of brown on the fringes of being red. It’s shaggy and falls upon his ears and curtains his face in lavish messy locks. With bangs that are every size and shape hardly even they fall into his dull gray eyes with ease. His hair is layered naturally, falling everywhere and in every which way it sees fit. Shiny and coated with a healthy glow some strands graze his shoulders just barely.
David has an exceptionally pale face with freckles coating his cheeks and nose. His eyes are large, but lack depth because of their bright color. It’s almost eerie in a sense when his gray eyes are exceptionally bright due to the lighting in a given place. This means they can also get awfully dark as well making him appear almost haunting. David has high cheekbones and a sharp pointed nose, merely adding to his sophisticated façade.
The young genius dons the most boring of clothing. Usually he is found boasting attire only a man many years older would wear. This includes vests, sweaters, and a series of button-up shirts finished with ties. His favorite outfit happens to be such a shirt and tie. It’s a white shirt, with long sleeves he usually shoves up his arms so that he may be cool whilst working, and shiny clear buttons running up the length in the front. He wears a satin black tie around his neck and black slacks coat his legs with shiny black shoes to protect his feet. Usually the ensemble is lavished in wrinkles (he hates to iron).
He’s a skinny young man with only five feet and seven inches to his name. Exceptionally thin and pale his clothes sag on his poor frame. Though built for speed, some might be surprised to know that David isn’t afraid to fight despite his diminutive stature. With wire-framed glasses guarding his eyes and wrinkled clothing on his body one might assume he’s a nerd. They would also be 100% correct.
Personality
Some say never to judge a book by it’s cover, but those who say so are foolish as the cover of a book can tell you a lot about it. The same goes for David who appears to be nothing but a simple scientist trapped in a war-torn world. This defines who he is, to a point at least.
David IS a scientist and like most scientists he enjoys his work. David could slave away on a project for hours and research even longer. He would do anything to solve the riddles of the world, even sacrificing his own desires to do so. Most of the time he does. He would much rather work than play, feeling that work is much more efficient and useful. His whole life is designed around his current projects and it’s easily seen that he’s obsessed. The very worst thing about it is the fact that when David is truly motivated by his works they can consume him. Thus, the young man doesn’t think of others if they get in the way of his goal and his regard for human life plummets. Like a mad man he craves success and would do anything to get it.
Not to say David is a terrible person, it’s just that his priorities can be a little strange. He can be a nice person when he wants to be, but this is only so when work isn’t involved… but this is rare. Work is usually always on David’s mind. He thinks socializing is nothing but a distraction and so can be cold if one finds him in a fix with one his projects. Mostly, if he does find something wrong with his work, David can become considerably grumpy and be very crabby. Though he strives to be polite in the company of others he finds himself estranged in a social environment. He’s never been one to talk to others and he’s certainly never played well with them either. Sometimes he tries to get away from people, simply because he feels it’s a futile effort to speak with them.
David has always been envious of others. Having always been the quirky little boy whom was taunted by his peers David has found reason to loathe anyone who is happy in nature. Or, at least, he’ll dislike them due to his prejudices. David also hates to be outsmarted. For years his eccentric thinking has been the only skill worth mentioning and the only thing that makes him exceptional in any form, so when others make a good point or correct him he’s instantly defensive. Though usually blunt with his opinions, David can trick others with his persuasive words making him a mischievous opponent.
David likes to laugh, but rarely allows himself to. Isolating himself by choice, David has found himself feeling desolate and lonely. This makes him plunge deeper into his studies and block out the world. David has essentially built a wall around himself, one nearly impenetrable.
History
David was born in Ashoka City to a poor couple living in the slums of the place. They were an unmotivated pair, but raised their son to the best of their abilities. Which meant they did nothing but the bare essentials. They fed him, clothed him, provided him with a filthy shelter… and sometimes mentioned that they loved him. David didn’t really mind his poor living conditions and went along with his life in a dazed happiness.
As he grew he began to note how dreadful his position really was. Compared to the other kids he was little more than scum. Even in Ashoka City’s state. In school he was teased and taunted and no one did anything about it. This is what drove him to books and complicated ideas. The little boy buried himself in knowledge, the only safe haven he knew of. With time he began to hate his lifestyle, feeling his parents were worthless and that the world was nothing short of unfair. As he grew more intelligent he began to gain some respect from his elders. In no time at all he was surpassing many with his enormous intellect.
By the time he was ten he was dubbed a genius. He knew of things others could only dream of, but at a dreadful price. He was shunned from his peers, but never minded. He didn’t want to socialize and felt content in his isolated lifestyle. He gained quite a few scholarships by the time he was in high school and managed to graduate much earlier than anyone else. By the time he was fifteen he was packing his things and heading to the luxuries of Imeda City, practically vanishing from the vile home he once knew.
At Imeda City he gained a small apartment and studied at the local university for a time. There he discovered the illusive mysteries of Dreams and Nightmares. By this time he had a marvelous reputation and was easily regarded as a fine scientist. It was soon after that David created Casmir: his weapon designed for defeating Dreams and Nightmares.
Now, at sixteen, after compiling data about the beings of Nikodem, he goes out to experiment. And no one said he would play nice.
