The Role-playing Rules
Spell. Check. Two simple words that you see every single time you make a post. Actually (and this may surprise some of you) it's right next to the wonderful button that says PREVIEW. To the left of that is Spell Check. You should ALWAYS press this button and check for any spelling errors. It's so quick and easy that I cannot begin to fathom as to why someone would not spell check their posts. It makes things easier for everyone.
Make your posts detailed and lengthy. No post should be a mere one line. Here we ask that you make at least a decent paragraph. What, may you ask, counts as a paragraph? Technically speaking a paragraph is five complete sentences. However, I feel a paragraph is one that explains the situation thoroughly and completely. Your character should not only say a line of dialog and that is your post-no, you need to be detailed. Explain the situation, how your character feels, what the surroundings are like, etc.
No Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. The infamous Mary-Sue. The girl in which has everything: a wonderful singing voice, can play various instruments, happens to be drop-dead-gorgeous, and also has a certain tragic past.
Then you have the famous Gary-Stus. Oh yes, he's Mary-Sue's evil brother in which, in the earlier years of his life, decided that he hated the world. Also, he hated the beloved Mary-Sue. No one knows the exact origin of his hate, only that it is there. Gary is anti-social and wants to kill everyone because... well, Mary-Sue tends to trigger this strange rage. He will kill you at mere sight. But don't worry: once he falls in love all is well and he will see the wrong in his deeds.
Oh, don't worry these characters are not accepted here. Seeing as you must post up a profile and have a staff member's approval there is no possible way such a character will see the light of day. So, for those of you where these characteristics sound vaguely familiar you better update your little Mary and Gary.
No power-playing. You all know what I'm talking about: you know, that one person you RP with who made your character say something that you'd never let have them say. Or that guy who had your character get hit with a missile though you had no say in the matter. Yeah, those guys. This is called power-playing: when someone controls another's character without the player's consent. If I-or any other staff member-see this you are liable to get a warning. If this continues further punishment will be issued.
DO NOT GOD-MOD. My God, do not make your character invincible. It is perhaps that most annoying concept ever created within the RPing world. God-Modding is where your character dodges every bullet, hits every target, and has incredible powers in which could easily destroy the world. Do not let staff members see this. We will kill you.
No "script writing". Sorry guys, we are not Broadway or anything in the like. We are a literate group of individuals whom appreciate a little quality. Not that playwrights out there are anything less than exceptional, but on a role-playing forum we expect "novel format". If you have no idea what this means go open a book. You'll figure it out eventually.
You may only have 2 characters.
Keep things PG-13. Aw man, we don't allow excessive cussing, drugs, and sex?! Oh darn! *Sarcasm.* Yes, we need keep things on the PG-13 level. This means things should be kept somewhat clean. You may use cussing-but don't spew crude words at us in every single sentence. Also, don't go do things with your characters that you wouldn't do with your mom.
